Well it took a while, but I've managed to rip the webcast down to 2 fairly huge mpegs (or VideoCDs) that I'll be adding to my trade list on framesaver.tripod.com. Just thought I'd let ye all know. Not actually looking for any new Ricer stuff, but if you have any recent Joshy/Frames/Tinley/Geary/Other such malarkey, drop me a mail.Edited by: framesaver

Just out of interest what program did you use to rip the broadcast?

Tis an old copy of streambox vcr - still works well, though.

And yeah, the wmv file is 290mb, but I've indexed it to make it searchable and split it into 2 mpegs in Premiere that I've made 2 Video CDs from. They were both above 400mb, y'see...Edited by: framesaver

Ah, I see. I've never used Premier. That sounds cool. But the indexing works only for TV or what?

That is a great quality video, too, for a webcast. And no logo on the screen

No, the indexing just allows you to skip to any part of the wmv file - the one i downloaded wouldn't allow such shennanigans, and would only allow you to watch it from the start. The indexing also means you can import the file into whatever editing software you like. And the video is pretty good, if not pitch black at times...Edited by: framesaver

I tried using streambox_vcr myself a while back but it didn't work. I probably didn't have the right file address - which one did you use?

Because you can't normally download from mms:// or rtsp:// addresses - you need special software. HiDownload is another goodun.Edited by: framesaver

Either:

Update your Windows media player, or get a prgram called 'zasffix' - That's what I used to re-index the file. Or ye might try Tmpegenc - it should convert it to an mpeg... Just a few ideas.

Thanks for the link to HiDownload. Streambox wasn't working for me but HiDownload ripped it for me in just six minutes. In the middle of converting it all to mp3 for myself now.

What did you use to extract the audio? I used a trial version of something that has now expired. I need something to extract to WAV.

Geoff, I'll get in touch with you soon about that. I want to get this off you and some other stuff if that's alright? I've finally got the time (and harddrive space) to get the Rodrigo y Gabriela VCD done. Will have it ready in the next few days. It's a freebie of course, like I promised.

To extract the audio from the .wmv file I used Blaze Media Pro. You can download it from the link below. There's a load of other cool audio editing software on the same page...

Ah you're a gent and a scholar... And one of these days I really must try and professionalize my trade list to bring it up to speed with yours, what with the setlists and recording info etc - good work mister!

Has anyone who ripped the .wmv had it crash on them when playing it about 16 minutes into the concert? Keeps doing that to me and I was just wondering if the file is corrupt or something.

Just letting you know Premiere is being an ass at the moment and crashing while exporting large videos, so give me a few more days while I try and figure this one out.
